Autobiographical writing

This week we studied about autobiographical writing and I would like to share with you what I learned.

AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL WRITING

It is a different form of biography, we all know that biography is the life story of a person, in the case of autobiography, it is the same but written by someone else.

Some people do not write their story because they think they are not good writers and prefer someone else to write their life story. In addition, they are still considered authors because they are the ones who provide information to the person who writes.

A good autobiographical composition includes:

Events of the writer's life in a logical order, that is, a timeline from their childhood to their present life.

A central conflict or important focus,in other words, writers should focus on specific aspects of their life or a specific experience.

The writer must use vivid details and try to be more specific in the information of places, people, etc. to give a clear sense of the characters and places.

When autobiographies are written, it is not written in the first person, it is written in the third person, so one of the disadvantages of this method is that the writer may be incorrectly explaining or describing the events in the person's life story.

WRITING GUIDELINES

First, these compositions are shorter than novels, it is recommended to focus on one aspect of your life. Something particularly important about this is that the writer can use the composition to embrace mistakes and show readers what the writer have learned about those mistakes.

Second, the composition or writing must be clear and focused, and only include those essential details.

Third, keep in mind that, even though you are writing about true events of a person’s life, the composition should still read and look like a story.

Finally, we have an activity for this week, and it was about a bio poem. A bio poem is an autobiographical poem about yourself and your life.
