PERSUASIVE PARAGRAPH
PERSUASIVE PARAGRAPH
This week we
studied persuasive paragraph and I would like to share with you what I learned.
The persuasive
paragraph tries to get the reader to accept of change a point of view or just
to understand the writer point of view.
This kind of
compositions can vary from a serious proposal to an unusual one.
Some things to
take into consideration are:
- Try to convince the reader that a point of view is worthy of consideration
- If you consider both sides of an issue, you can reveal a preference in favor of one side over another. The writer can show preference for a specific idea.
- Facts are important to support and idea or position, but the writer is not being objective. The point of view is subjective because every person thinks in a unique way, the writer is giving an opinion.
Introductory
sentence: the topic sentence is the one
that states the argument.
Use word such as:
Some believe that, in my opinion, therefore, moreover, for this reason, I feel
that, surely, I am sure that, it is certain
Evidence: This
supports the point of view; individual experiences are important.
Give reasons for
and against.
Ask questions to
get readers thinking, this is quite common because will let the reader thinking
about your position or point of view.
After learning all these characteristics, we
made a composition of a persuasive paragraph, and I would like to share with you
the result.
