UNITY AND COHERENCE

Welcome to my blog!

COHESION AND COHERENCE

This week we continue studying how to write our paragraphs in a better way and that they have unity and coherence. We also studied the words that allows to make the transition between ideas.

When we already have an established sentence, it is important that we shape it or restructure it so that it has cohesion and coherence.

Cohesion is important because it gives a sense of flow to the text and allows the reader to understand better about what we are talking. When a piece of writing is coherent, it does not contain radical changes that leave the reader with the feeling that the idea is not finalized. A coherent writing links the previous idea with the new one, providing clarity in the text.

Coherence means that the entire text must make sense, if the ideas are confused or cut off, it is necessary to rewrite them so that the whole writing has harmony and meaning.

TRANSITION WORDS

To achieve a coherent and cohesive paragraph, it is important to make effective use of words and for this there are transition words.

Transition words are used between sentences or between paragraphs. Transitional expressions emphasize the relationship that must exist between the writer's ideas and avoid confusion and misunderstandings.

I would like to share with you some examples of transitions words:

To show addition: Further, furthermore, besides, equally important, etc.

To give examples: For instance, for example, to illustrate, etc.

To show time: Earlier, finally, after, afterward, meanwhile, when, etc.

To summarize or conclude: to sum up, in conclusion, in other words, ect.

Finally, I will share with you the activity of the week:

Thank you so much for reading my blog! See you next week!
