TYPES OF PARAGRAPHS
TYPE OF PARAGRAPHS : DESCRIPTIVE PARAGRAPH
This week I learned that there are four types of paragraphs: Descriptive, persuasive, narrative and expository.
During the class
we focused on talking about the descriptive paragraph.
DESCRIPTIVE PARAGRAPH
For this type of paragraph, it is important to use adjectives so that the reader can better imagine and understand what they are reading. It helps to create a mental image using adjectives.
The descriptive paragraph, describes and shows the
reader what a thing, person or place looks like, therefore, it is important to
choose well the words to use. It usually appeals to the five senses of touch,
sight, sound, smell, and taste.
When the information is detailed, it makes it easier for the reader to use his imagination, if the description is incredibly detailed and specific, the mental picture will be clearer.
When we write descriptive paragraphs, there is a
specific pre-writing technique, and it is necessary using a table like the
following:
Also, a table with adjectives can be created to
make the composition more specific.
You can combine nouns and adjectives to facilitate
the construction of sentences:
When you already have the pre-writing technique,
you start making the draft using the information in the table, the use of this
technique will facilitate the writing and development of the paragraph.
In my personal experience, this new prewriting technique helped me
in the construction of the paragraph, since I was able to include a greater
number of characteristics that will help the reader to understand the text in a
better way.
The first activity was to talk about my favorite place:
The second activity was to talk about an experience:
Thank you so much for reading! See you next week!
