REVISING
REVISING
Writing is not a random process and, it is necessary to return to our document as many times as we can to ensure that what we are writing is clear to the reader.
This week I learned about "The Revising Stage" and want to share with you a little bit.
This stage can be challenging, which is why experts recommend focusing on one element at a time. Also, before starting the revising process, take a break to do any other activity, for example: check your phone messages, social media applications, or practice hobbies to rest a little bit of writing and be more focused.
Once you have started revising your paragraph will be necessary to keep your attention and identify the ideas that do not have coherence with the rest of the text. The draft must be well organized and, the main idea must be are clear without missing the purpose.Once you have started revising your paragraph will be necessary to keep your attention and identify the ideas that do not have coherence with the rest of the text. The last thing I want to share with you is the homework for this week. Please check it out! Any comments or advice are welcome!
REVISION STRATEGIES
During the class I learned the following strategies:
Scanning the sequence: In this step, You can scan the ideas, words, or phrases and, decide where you want them to reflect the purpose of the writing. If the words or thoughts are not related to the topic, It will be necessary to reorder the paragraph.
Comparing body paragraphs: In this step, You need to write on a piece of paper the purpose of your writing. You need to have it in mind during the whole process. If you are missing the objective, You have to remove or change ideas.
Circling verbs- Word Choice: Check if the verbs are in the correct verb tenses. Using a pen, you can circle the verbs you need to change. And a great option is to challenge yourself to search for new words or synonyms in a dictionary and replace them.
As you can see, writing is not an easy task and, my teacher helped us understand in a better way the topic of the week by making a group activity. We wrote about a restaurant in El Salvador and, we helped each other revise the paragraph.
Here is our group activity:
